About

What is Mark 2 Ministries?

Founded in 1986 by a Deaf Education major at Ball State University, Mark 2 Ministries was born out of a passion to bridge the gap between the church and those with special needs by creating special needs ministries in churches.

For the first 35+ years, Mark 2 Ministries was solely charged with championing the local church to design programming and church services geared towards the inclusion of people with special needs and their families. In October 2021, the organization began offering biblical coaching services which are not exclusive to the special needs community like the above special needs ministries in churches but are open to any family in the Indianapolis Metro area.

Families within the special needs community may request information about obtaining a scholarship to cover the cost associated with their coaching services.

What’s In a Name?

Our organization was named after the Gospel of Mark in the Bible. The second book of Mark (Mark 2) tells the story of a paralyzed man whose friends believed that Jesus could heal him. After trying and failing to get through a dense crowd of people, at last, they found a way to get their friend before Jesus by digging a hole in the roof of a building and lowering him down by ropes attached to his bed. But Jesus, witnessing their sheer faith in Him, didn’t just heal the man — He forgave his sins.

The driving force behind Mark 2 Ministries is to help equip churches with the ability to allow all of God’s children to experience the love of Jesus Christ. We do this through creating special needs ministries in churches and implementing other church services into congregations so they can offer a more inclusive worship environment.
